CLUB COACH

The SDBC Club Coach shall be responsible for planning, directing and monitoring the training, development and performance of all baseball players. The Club Coach will implement a training program that supports team success, promoting skill development and player participation.
The Club Coach will mentor appointed Senior and Junior Coach’s.
The Club Coach will report to the Baseball Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Player Training:
• Develop and execute (with the assistance of the coaches) a player training program to develop players’ skills and team performance including but not limited to the specialised areas of pitching, catching, hitting, infield, outfield and game strategy.
• Develop specialised training sessions as required to ensure the on-going development of local talent.

Coaches Development:
• Develop and implement a detailed program providing clear milestones to assess coach, team and player development.
• Assist coaches’ to develop their team goals and training programs ensuring alignment with the Club’s overall strategy.
• Monitor and provide feedback to all coaches on their development throughout the season and assist them with difficult and important issues.
• Lead and educate the coaches on successful strategies to build winning teams that feature deep bullpens, good defence, strong offence, game management and great team morale.
• Report on all coaches’ development to the Baseball Director on a regular basis.
• Meet with the coaches during and after spring training to discuss team strategies and assist coaches to make initial team selections.

Player Development:
• Identify and develop the skills of those players wanting to improve their skills and playing ability and also accommodate those players in an appropriate team.
• Work with the coaches to facilitate the development of players and if needed guide and direct the coaches to develop players in preference to simply winning games.
• Be accommodating and welcoming to all new players and assist them to find their place within the club, learn new skills and be accepted into the Club.

Team Performance:
• Develop a training program that allows both senior and junior teams to develop, strengthen and succeed throughout the season with an emphasis on team based culture rather than individual achievement.

Development of Club Culture:
• Lead by example in displaying a passionate, professional and approachable attitude in all endeavours as Club Coach.
• Assist the coaches to instil good playing, teamwork and supportive values for all players.
• Attend all Club events and encourage others to attend events.

Player Recruitment:
• Assist the Club to identify gaps in playing talent and develop strategies to target and recruit players to fill those gaps.
• Create a positive playing culture that enhances the reputation of SDBC and support an environment that is attractive to players of other clubs.

Renumeration:
• The Club Coach shall receive a fee of $XXXX, to be paid in full on or before 1/03/2015.

Term:
• The appointment will be for 2 years, the second year subject to agreement of all parties.

DIVISION 1 COACH

The SDBC Div 1 Coach shall be responsible for on and off field performance of the SDBC division 1 squad. The div 1 Coach will implement a training program that generates team success, promoting skill development and player participation.
The Div 1 Coach will report to the Baseball Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Player Training:
• Develop and execute a Div 1 training program to develop players’ skills and team performance including but not limited to the specialised areas of pitching, catching, hitting, infield, outfield and game strategy.
• Develop and execute specialised training sessions in conjunction with the Club Coach as required to ensure the on-going development of local talent.

Coaches Development:
• Develop Div 1&2 coaches/assistants to ensure ongoing succession and alignment with the Club’s overall strategy.

Player Development:
• Identify gaps and develop the skills of Div 1 squad members to improve their skills and playing ability.

Team Performance:
• Implement a training program that allows the div 1 team to develop, strengthen and succeed throughout the season, and into the future, with an emphasis on team based culture and success rather than individual achievement.
• Ensure the Div 1 team train and compete with passion and professionalism.

Development of Club Culture:
• Lead by example in displaying a passionate, professional and approachable attitude in all endeavours as Div 1 Coach (Refer to the Coaches Code of Conduct).
• Attend all Club events and encourage others to attend events.

Player Recruitment:

Code of Conduct.
The Coach will abide by the Club’s Coaches Code of Conduct (sign) and will abide by all rules of conduct as laid down in the BSA by Laws.

Club functions.
The Coach will attend all Club functions, unless the Board has given him permission, prior to the event, not to attend.

Renumeration:
• The Club Coach shall receive a fee of $XXXX to be paid 1 July and a second payment of $XXXX to be paid 1 January during each contracted season.
• The Club will provide the Coach with a playing uniform inclusive of cap, playing top, undershirt, pants, belt, socks and jumper, and a training uniform inclusive of top and shorts. The Club will finance all BSA playing fees if applicable.

Term:
• The appointment will be for 2 seasons being 2020/21 and 2021/22.
• The Coach will be required from 1st June 2020 (or such date as mutually agreed) until 31st April 2022.

SENIOR COACH

The role of a Senior coach within SDBC is fundamental to the success of the club as a whole. Our mission is to develop players to become future Division 1 players for SDBC and also to be role models for all players within SDBC. A SDBC Senior Coach shall be responsible for on and off field performance of their SDBC senior team. The Coach will implement a training program that generates team success, promoting skill development and player participation.

A Senior Coach will report to the Baseball Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Player Training:
• Develop and execute a training program to develop players’ skills and team performance including but not limited to the specialised areas of pitching, catching, hitting, infield, outfield and game strategy.
• Develop and execute specialised training sessions in conjunction with the Club Coach as required to ensure the on-going development of local talent.

Player Development:
• Identify gaps and develop the skills of squad members to improve their skills and playing ability.

Team Performance:
• Implement a training program that allows the team to develop, strengthen and succeed throughout the season, and into the future, with an emphasis on team based culture and success rather than individual achievement.

Development of Club Culture:
• Lead by example in displaying a passionate, professional and approachable attitude in all endeavours as coach (Refer to the Coaches Code of Conduct).
• Always encourage good sportsmanship through their players and supporters and ensure there is no equipment, umpire or personal abuse.
• Create a positive playing culture that enhances the reputation of SDBC and support an environment that is attractive to players of other clubs.
• Ensure that only SDBC ratified uniforms are worn. We want to promote a positive image so it is essential that all players look, train and play the same way (Refer to the Players Code of Conduct).

• A Senior coach must ensure, with the assistance of the team manager, that all administrative requirement of his team are fulfilled at all times. Eg ground set up/pull down, paperwork and canteen duty.
• Ensure that players and supporters are aware of any social functions and encourage them to attend.

JUNIOR COACH

The role of a Junior coach within SDBC is fundamental to the success of the club as a whole. Our mission is to develop players to become future Division 1 players for SDBC and also to promote a fun, family friendly environment. A SDBC Junior Coach shall be responsible for on and off field performance of their SDBC junior team. The Coach will implement a training program that promotes skill development and player participation.
A Junior Coach will report to the Baseball Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Player Training:
• Develop and execute a training program to develop age appropriate players’ skills and team performance including but not limited to the specialised areas of pitching, catching, hitting, infield, outfield and game strategy.
• Develop and execute specialised training sessions in conjunction with the Club Coach as required to ensure the on-going development of local talent.
• Ensure that the safety of the players is paramount at all times. All equipment issued must be safe and any unsafe equipment must be brought to the attention of the equipment coordinator.
• Training sessions must be programmed in a safe manner and cancelled if required under the SABL heat rules.
Player Development:
• Identify gaps and develop the skills of squad members to improve their skills and playing ability.
• Encourage players to learn new positions and not be afraid to try players in different positions.
• Ensure parents are regularly updated on individual and team performance and programs.

Team Performance:
• Implement a training program that allows the team to develop, strengthen and succeed throughout the season, and into the future, with an emphasis on team based culture and success rather than individual achievement.
• The Junior coach MUST ensure they understand the rules applicable for their particular age group (eg pitch counts).

Development of Club Culture:
• Lead by example in displaying a passionate, professional and approachable attitude in all endeavours as coach (Refer to the Coaches Code of Conduct).
• Always encourage good sportsmanship through their players and supporters and ensure there is no equipment, umpire or personal abuse.
• Create a positive playing culture that enhances the reputation of SDBC and support an environment that is attractive to players of other clubs.
• Ensure that only SDBC ratified uniforms are worn. We want to promote a positive image so it is essential that all players look, train and play the same way (Refer to the Players Code of Conduct).
